Do snails have flesh in their shell?

Question: I had always assumed that under their shell, snails look just like slugs, but I am now wondering if their body continues up into their shell? If not, what holds the shell to their body? Is it like hermit crabs, who inhabit the shell of something before them, or do they grow their own shell? Wow, Rajesh, that's amazing!

Answer: The rest of they're bodies are integrated into the shell (heart, lung, genitalia etc.), check out the pic in the link at the bottom. The shell grows with them.
